The links in the boxes below are places to get started on your biographical research on your veteran(s). The first box to the left includes the link to the Fort Logan National Cemetery website, a spreadsheet of veterans buried at Fort Logan, and names of notable figures buried in the cemetery.  (The last tab on this research guide contains the link to the More than a Headstone website, so you can check to make sure the veteran hasn't already been included.)

In the middle box, Ancestry Library Edition is a good place to get started by searching for census information, birth, marriage, and death records, and military information. The Denver Public Library is another important resource for local information and archival collections, but, as the Western History Collection is closed at this point due to COVID-19, you will have to contact them by email if you have questions that can't be answered through their digital collections, and it may be 2-4 weeks before you get a response.

Reference USA, listed in the lower box in the middle column, contains the white pages for people who still have landline phones, so may be another way to locate relatives, if you and your professor determine that is an appropriate approach.
