Getting Started

Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary field of study, In this research guide, I have identified the databases that support GWST research, but these are by no means the only ones that can be used in this discipline.  To start:

1)  Begin with The Library Catalog to find books, government documents, DVDs, and other materials on your topic.

2)  For articles, use the Databases tab and explore the various databases available.  I've listed the GWST databases first, but an excellent place to start looking for articles is Academic Search Complete, for it is very interdisciplinary, includes scholarly and popular periodicals as well as a few newspapers, and may give you insights into which subject specific database may be valuable: if all the articles on your topic are published in psychology journals, then maybe PsycInfo is a place for you to explore your topic as well.

Asking for help with your research

If you have questions during your research process, there are a variety of ways to ask for help with your research project at the Research Center:

  1. To the left you may see a "chat" box.  If the box is visible, you can type in your question and get help online.
  2. Below the chat box you will see an email address you can use to email a question,
  3. and a phone number you can use to call us.

We are here to help you, so feel free to contact us!
