A unit of the U.S. Department of Education, NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data that are related to education in the United States and other nations. PES was founded in 1941 to promote the fundamental philosophic treatment of the problems of education and to advance and improve teaching in the philosophy of education.
