APA Style Guide for Business: Introduction

Introduction

This guide provides suggestions for citing some of the material used in business research using the APA publication manual, 7th ed., 2020. The general APA format for citing using this edition is:

References

Book: 

Author, A. A., Author, B.B., & Author, C.C. (Date). Title of book. Publisher name.

Include the DOI if there is one:

Author, A. A. (Date). Title of book. Publisher name. https://doi.org/xxxx

Periodical:

Author, A. A., Author, B.B., & Author, C.C. (Date). Title of article. Title of Periodical, xx(i), pp-pp. https://doi.org/xxxx

(DOI is a digital object identifier that most articles from scholarly journals, and often books, have assigned to them)

Date can be: (Year)

                     (Year, Month)

                     (Year, Month day)

Chapter:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date). Title of chapter. In A. Editor, B. Editor, & C. Editor (Eds.), Title of book (pp. xxx-xxx). Publisher Name.

NOTE:  If there are no dates use the following notation in its place:  (n.d.)

In-text citations:

Parenthetical citation: (Last name of author, year)

Narrative citation: Last name of author (year)
