Searching with Compass: Accessing and Requesting Materials

Item Locations and Availability

Item Locations and Delivery

Physical materials in the library catalog may be located at the:

  • Main Library
  • Hampden Library
  • Music Library
  • Law Library
  • Iliff Library

There are multiple deliveries a day to all library locations, so once an item is requested, available items are delivered to the desired location on the next scheduled delivery.

Item Availability and Requests

Under the Find in Library tab you will be able to see how many items the library owns of an item and how many of those items are currently available for checkout . You can use the Request button to claim a title and pick it up at the main lending desk or to place a hold if an item is currently unavailable.

Once you select request you will need to specify, which location you would like to pick up the book from before submitting the request.

Accessing Electronic Resources

Accessing Electronic Materials

To access e-books, articles, and other electronic resources, click "Access Online" and select one of the blue database links to access the full-text of the resource (depending on your resource, you may have more or fewer links listed). If you are off-campus, you will be prompted to login after clicking the database link. Once logged in, you will be taken to the publishers page to access the resource.

More Actions

If you find a resource you like and you have many options to take your research further. You can pin "save" an item to your account, email it, print it, link to it, get the citation, and export it to other citation management tools. You can see these tools by selecting the three dots in the upper right corner of item's record.
