Spain in the Southwest: Finding Books

Finding Primary Sources in Library Catalogs

To locate reprinted versions of primary documents in the library catalog, use the Library of Congress subject headings.  Although many of these will be translations, to limit to Spanish, use the facets or "Modify" features.

Sample Library of Congress subject headings:

Spaniards -- New Mexico -- History -- 17th Century -- Sources

Pueblo Indians -- New Mexico -- History -- 17th Century -- Sources

New Mexico -- History -- to 1848 -- Sources

Search individuals as authors or as subjects (adding subheadings such as diaries, correspondence, sources, etc.)
