Introduction

You may have received a "certificate error" when trying to access one of our licensed databases. The error will say something like "This Connection is Untrusted" or "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." Although this is annoying, there is a workaround.

Why Does This Occur?

This happens because of new Internet technologies designed to protect you from malicious Web site such as site that try to trick users through "spoofing". We control access to our licensed databases through a proxy technology that amends URLs for authentication purposes. When a server uses a secure connection (ex: https://) there is a check to make sure there is a match between the URL requested and the Web site. The problem is that this appears to be malicious activity to automated Web security systems, hence the error messages.
